How does stress affects erectile dysfunction

How does stress affects erectile dysfunction

The inability to acquire and maintain a hard, adequate erection for sexual intercourse is known as erectile dysfunction. People may think of it as a disease, which is completely wrong. Erectile Dysfunction is not a disease. More than half of men face ED at some point of time in their lives.

There are many reasons for Erectile Dysfunction. That includes psychological as well as physical.

Now the question is, what does psychology have to do with erectile dysfunction?

Psychological issues include stress, anxiety, depression, etc.

There is no particular reason for stress; it can be caused by anything, even if the situation is good or bad. The level of how much stress we can handle varies for every person, and so does the reaction to the stressful situation. Our bodies react to stress physically, mentally, and emotionally. Everyone’s reaction to stress is different, and so is the situation that causes the stress.

The possible causes of stress include:

  • Death of a loved one
  • Marriage
  • Deadlines
  • Legal problems
  • Unemployment
  • Divorce
  • New job
  • Retirement
  • Financial problems
  • Illnesses
  • Parenting

How to cope up with stress?

  • Have low expectations with others and keep in mind that you can’t control everything in your life.
  • Do not keep everything to yourself. Talk to a friend, a mentor, or a counsellor.
  • Think maturely and act responsibly.
  • Indulge in problem solving.
  • Try to change or eliminate the source of stress.
  • Meditate daily.
  • Eat and drink healthy.
  • Maintain emotional support.
  • Stay around positive people and keep a distance from negativity.
