4 things to do when starting a healthy diet

4 things to do when starting a healthy diet

Were you able to keep up with your new year’s resolution, to start eating more healthy? If you’ve failed to do so, you may have a few months left this 2018 but there’s no need to wait till next year to pick up where you left off!

Go at your own pace and start again now. This lifestyle change is difficult but your body will thank you later if you deal with this shift now. Here are 4 things to get you started:

Consult with your physician

Before you delve into meal planning and setting your goals, as much as possible, consult with your physician first for they can provide you information as to what can help you shed off weight more effectively. Also, if you have any medical conditions you’re unaware of before that restricts you from doing a particular diet, you’ll know. In addition to that, they can also help find you a reliable dietician to help you reach your goal weight.

Set your goals

Whether it be losing or gaining weight, determine your goals from the very start to give you a concrete vision of what to aim for. It’s better if you set smaller, more doable goals such as losing a couple pounds per week or 5 kilos in a month. This should help visualize your goals easier. To simplify, break your long-term goal into smaller ones for better results.

Stock up with healthy foods

Get rid of your sugary and rich in sodium snacks and replace it with healthy ones. If you want to munch on something, instead of reaching for a bag of potato chips, go for kale chips or granola bars. Do also place a basket of fruits on your kitchen counter instead of bread or biscuits.

Follow your healthy meal plan

Keep a diary and most importantly, make an eating plan. Plan your meals around your lifestyle and track your progress. Make a list of the healthy foods you need for grocery shopping purposes and skip the jar of Nutellas and processed foods, instead, run for more fruits and vegetables and fiber-rich foods.

As you go along the journey, remember why started when you feel like stopping. Track your progress and keep going. Don't pressure yourself for this takes one step at a time. Best of luck!
